Thompson No. 500 Fly Reel - San FranciscoFor sale here is a fantastic example of a classic Thompson No. 500 fly reel made in California in the late 1940's. Diameter is 3 3 8". Similar in style and performance to the classic Hardy Perfect. The reel is in excellent condition with the majority of its wonderful black finish remaining. Circular line guard and full length smooth brass reel foot. Light marks around the crank handle which is very normal. The No. 500 was built to handle 6 7 8 weight

you will notice that the two sides of the spring line up almost in the exact same spot against the sides of the pawl

the Mantra rods will delight with the same experience you would expect from a Sweetgrass bamboo fly rod
