Although essentially a basic piece of plate armour, they nonetheless protect the knees whilst permitting sufficient freedom of movement. The lower portions of the pieces have a steel thickness of 1. 2 mm, the upper sides have a steel thickness of 1. 3 mm, and the knee cops themselves are 1. 6 mm thick.
